International Organization for Migration (IOM) provided the Border Police with new equipment

The International Organization for Migration (IOM) provided Drone, DSLR and video cameras to the MIA Border Police with financial assistance from the European Union to enhance the capabilities of the strategic communications unit. Border police also received computers and safety equipment for climbing heights. The official website of the Border Police (bpg.gov.ge) was also updated with the support of the IOM.

Director of the MIA Border Police Coast Guard Department, CAPT Ramaz Papidze, hosted the Ambassador of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland H.E. Mark Clayton to the Joint Maritime Operations Centre (JMOC).

Joint Exercises of the Georgian and Turkish Border Units

The purpose of the joint exercises was to share experience between the border units of the two countries in the field of land border protection and improve coordinated actions in terms of border security. The exercise helped border guards enhance their ability to respond to border incidents and conduct preventive operations.

The Interagency Exercise “Didgori 2021” aims to enhance coordination and improve interoperability between the governmental agencies during the war time and crises.

Up to 200 representatives of the Ministry of Internal Affairs participate in the framework of Exercise in the top table, as well as field components. During the active phase of Exercise, the representatives of MIA Border Police Aviation and MIA Strategic Pipeline Protection Department acted in coordination with the Special Operation Forces of the Ministry of Defence of Georgia.

Up to 200 employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs are participating in inter-agency exercise "Didgori 2021", which serves to enhance coordination and interoperability between government agencies in war and crisis situations.

In Batumi, the Prime Minister of Georgia, Irakli Gharibashvili, and high-ranking guests, along with the Head of MIA Border Police, Major General Nikoloz Sharadze, attended the reception. The Commander of the SIXTHFLT, Deputy Commander of the U.S. Navy in Europe and Africa, Vice-Admiral Gene Black, Commanding Officer of USS Mount Whitney, Daniel Prochazka, and U.S. Ambassador to Georgia, Kelly Degnan, hosted the guests.

U.S. Navy ships have entered the Georgian territorial waters

U.S. Sixth Fleet (SIXTHFLT) ships USS Mount Whitney (LCC 20) and USS Porter (DDG 78) have entered the territorial waters of Georgia. The crew members were met at the Batumi port by the Director of the MIA Border Police Coast Guard Department, CAPT Ramaz Papidze, and the Chairman of the Government of the Autonomous Republic of Adjara, Tornike Rizhvadze.
