The Director of the Coast Guard Department of the Georgian Border Police Captain Ramaz Papidze payed an official visit to the Republic of Bulgaria, Bulgarian Naval Forces Command.
During the visit, the Director of Georgian Coast Guard department, met the Commander of Bulgarian Naval Forces, rear Admiral Kirill Mikhailov and his stuff members.
The Participants of the meeting discussed the Black Sea Security issues in General, as well as existing threats and challenges in the territorial waters of Georgia and Bulgaria. The Bulgarian side introduced the presentation about the aims and development priorities of the Naval Forces and discussed about the activities of the Black Sea Regional Maritime Coordination element under the Bulgarian Naval Forces.
In the framework of the visit, Captain Ramaz Papidze visited Nikola Vaptsarov Naval Academy, viewed current infrastructure and get acquainted with the activities and technologies of the Educational – Training Center.
Director of the Coast Guard Department of the Georgian Border Police, Captain Ramaz Papidze also visited Black Sea Regional Maritime Coordination element at Bulgarian Naval Forces’ base in Varna, where he also got on board of warship “SMELI”. Captain Papidze visited “dolfin” shipyard, become familiar with shipbuilding technologies, existing infrastructure and attended construction process of new Bulgarian Naval warship.
