Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia started placing Border Signs in the Border Zone and Border Line of the State Borders

MoIA Border Police of Georgia started placing Border Signs at the state Borders informing persons about approaching or being at the territory of the Border Regime. The Border signs will be positioned in the border zone, no more than 5 km inwards from the State Borders and at the Border Line, no more than 500 meters inwards from State Borders.

Any Person or a Legal Entity seeking entry permit either to the Border Zone or Border Line should address to the MoIA Border Police of Georgia.

In order to obtain entry permit to the Border line or Border Zone, application form needs to be filled out, which is available at the following link on the web-page of the MoIA Border Police of Georgia: https://bpg.gov.ge/en/page/public-relations/information-for-tourists Entry permit seekers should submit scanned ID Card or Passport along with the reason for entering the Border Zone or Line.

Entry permits can be obtained at the central administrative building of MoIA Border Police of Georgia (Tbilisi, Kandelaki St. N12), as well as at Regional Divisions and Border Sector HQs.

Starting from September 1, 2022, for violating the border regime on the segments of the state Border of Georgia, mechanisms of administrative penalties will be applied to offenders, according to the Article 190 of the Code of Administrative Offenses.

Respective penalties defined for violation of the border regime, namely:

Violation of the border regime on the segments of the state border of Georgia, be it for tourist, scientific research, hunting, agricultural or other non-business activities, will result in a warning or a fine in the amount of 20 GEL;

Industrial, crafting and resource extraction, service rendering, construction or other business activities specified by the Law of Georgia "On Licenses and Permits" will result to a fine of 50 GEL for physical persons, and a fine of 200 GEL for a legal entities;

Repeated illegal activities will lead to a fine of 100 GEL for physical persons, and 300 GEL for a legal entities;

Photographing, video and/or aerial photography of the state border protection facilities and means of border protection equipment will lead to a fine of 50 GEL;

Violation of the border regime on the segments of the state border of Georgia, which caused a delay or hindered the movement of the border patrol , will result in a fine of 250 GEL;

Violation of the border regime on the segments of the state border of Georgia, which caused damage or destruction of the border infrastructure (border sign, border protection equipment etc) will result to a fine of 350 GEL;

Photo, video and/or aerial photography of a state border protection facilities and/or means of the state border protection, damage/destruction of border infrastructure (border sign, technical means of state border protection, etc.), delay in the movement of the border patrols by a person who is fined for one of the above-mentioned actions before, will result in a fine of the amount of 400 GEL.
