The MIA Border Police Coast Guard Department Patrol Boat SOKHUMI made a port visit to Trabzon, Republic of Turkey.
The visit was held as a part of the Turkish-Georgian bilateral cooperation programme and aimed to share experience in the field of maritime security between the two Coast Guard units.
The Georgian and Turkish Coast Guards conducted joint exercises. The training combined various elements, including: joint naval manoeuvres, locating and surveying the suspected vessel, operation “Off the Board” and search-and-rescue operation.
The crew also took part in various sporting and cultural events organised as a part of the visit.
Within the framework of the visit, the Commander of the Patrol Boat SOKHUMI, CAPT Giorgi Kikvadze, met with the representatives of the Turkish Coast Guard and Navy. The Georgian delegation was hosted by the Governor of Trabzon, representatives of the City Hall and the Consul General of Georgia.
