MIA Border Police Coast Guard Department personnel took part in the ten-day naval exercise BREEZE 2021 held in the Black Sea. Patrol Ship OCHAMCHIRE (P23) participated in the joint exercises.
The exercise BREEZE is organized annually by the Bulgarian Navy. It aims to enhance collaboration and interoperability among the naval units of the participating nations to strengthen regional maritime security.
The scenario-based simulation exercise was carried out per NATO standards and procedures.
This year’s iteration included Standing NATO Maritime Group 2 (SNMG2), Standing NATO Mine Countermeasures Group 2 (SNMCMG2), up to 2100 personnel, 30 vessels, and 11 aircraft. Apart from Georgia, 13 countries participated in the exercise this year: Albania, Belgium, Bulgaria, Great Britain, Greece, Italy, Latvia, Poland, Romania, Spain, Turkey, Ukraine, and the United States.
This year exercise marked the 25th year since the first annual naval exercise BREEZE. Last year, the MIA Border Police Coast Guard Department patrol boat DIOSKURIA (P25) participated in the exercise.
