Colonel Davit Tamazashvili, Chief of the Border Police of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, met with Jamie Shufflebarger, Director of the Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL), U.S. Embassy in Georgia, and Karen Chaisson, Advisor to the U.S. Export Control and Related Border Security (EXBS) Program.
The meeting served as an introductory engagement and was attended by Deputy Chiefs of the Border Police, the Director of the International Relations Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the U.S. Maritime Advisor, and the EXBS Program’s Senior Coordinator.
Discussions focused on ongoing and future cooperation between Georgia and the United States in the area of border security. Chief of the Border Police presented the agency’s key priorities and future objectives to the U.S. representatives.
At the end of the meeting, the Chief of the Border Police expressed his appreciation to the U.S. delegation for their continued support in enhancing the capabilities of the Border Police.
