The U.S. Ambassador to Georgia Kelly C. Degnan visited the Joint Maritime Operations Center (JMOC). 1st Deputy Head of the MIA Border Police of Georgia, Colonel Gocha Janjgava hosted the guests.
The meeting was attended by the Director of the Coast Guard Department, CAPT Ramaz Papidze, the Head of the Joint Maritime Operations Center, CDR Shota Mirotadze, and the Regional Advisor of the Export Control and Related Border Security (EXBS) Program of the U.S. Department of State, Rosie Petrov.
At the meeting, Colonel Gocha Janjgava thanked the Ambassador for the visit and expressed gratitude for the successful cooperation. The parties discussed the directions of the ongoing cooperation, issues of Black Sea Regional security, and the progress achieved by the JMOC. CDR Shota Mirotadze informed the guests about the activities, achievements, and plans of the Center. The U.S. Ambassador highlighted the fruitful cooperation between the MIA Border Police and the United States of America and mentioned, that she is proud of the progress that the Center has made.
JMOC has been established with the assistance of the US Export Control and Related Border Security (EXBS) program. The Center is integrating the efforts of several ministries and agencies. Jmoc is being coordinated, administrated, and provided with organizational-technical support by the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia.
