The MIA Border Police Coast Guard Department conducted a large-scale exercise in the Black Sea, in which up to 100 officers, three patrol ships and five patrol boats participated.
The training included naval tactical manoeuvres (PASSEX) and shooting the above water targets using the vessels’ weaponry.
The purpose of the naval exercises is to improve the coordination between the vessels and the tactical skills of the Coast Guard personnel, as well as to conduct the technical assessment of the armament systems.
The Border Police Coast Guard Department regularly participates in naval exercises. In 2021, in the Georgian territorial waters, Coast Guard conducted joint exercises with ships from the NATO member countries: U.S., Great Britain, Spain, Romania, Bulgaria, Turkey, and with ship from Ukraine. The Coast Guard also took part in the multinational exercise SEA BREEZE 2021 in the Ukrainian territorial waters and the naval exercise BREEZE 2021 in the Bulgarian territorial waters.
