Head of the Border Police congratulated employees with the Border Aviation Day

Head of the MIA Border Police Colonel Nikoloz Sharadze congratulated employees with the Border Aviation Day. Colonel Nikoloz Sharadze thanked personnel for their dedicated service.

At the event, 6 representatives from Aviation Division have been awarded for their distinguished service and professional achievements. 2 of them have been awarded with badge of the Border Police “Impeccable Service".

Main tasks of the MIA Border Police Special Aviation Main Division are monitoring of the State Border, border zone, border line and maritime space of Georgia - search, air surveillance and patrol; personnel transportation during rotations, logistic maintenance, conducting of search and rescue operations. In 2020, Border Aviation participated in 21 rescue operations and 24 firefighting missions.

The employees of the Coast Guard Department of the MIA Border Police detained the cargo vessel “ELENA”, under the flag of Comoros Islands, for the violation of the rules of the Navigation in the Georgian Territorial Waters.
