U.S. President Joe Biden congratulated Georgian cadets on successfully graduating from the U.S. Coast Guard Academy (USCGA). Nikoloz Tvildiani and Sandro Stazhadze were sent to study at USCGA with the support of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia.
The Head of MIA Border Police, Col Nikoloz Sharadze and the Director of the Coast Guard Department, CAPT Ramaz Papidze were invited by the American side to attend the graduation ceremony in New London, Connecticut. Joe Biden, along with Nikoloz Sharadze and Ramaz Papidze presented diplomas to the Georgian graduates of the American Academy.
Nikoloz Tvildiani and Sandro Stazhadze are the first cadets sent to the USCGA with the support of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia. Upon successful completion of the undergraduate programme, they will serve in the Georgian Coast Guard.
This year, 240 cadets graduated from the USCGA. Among seven foreign graduates were two Georgian cadets. The USCGA is one of the top ten military academies in the United States. In 2017, for the first time, the MIA was involved in the USCGA candidate selection process. Four years ago, only Nikoloz Tvildiani and Sandro Stazhadze managed to pass the competition and obtained the right to study at USCGA.
