The Coast Guard of the Border Police of the Ministry of Internal Affairs has celebrated its 27th anniversary. The Head of the Border Police, Colonel Davit Tamazashvili, together with the Director of the Coast Guard Department, Captain I Rank Yuri Pirtskhalashvili, congratulated the personnel on their professional day at the Coast Guard base in Poti.
The Head of Border Police awarded the Coast Guard members with medals for 15 years of impeccable services and Minister of internal affairs certificate of gratitude, as well as Border Police head certificate of gratitude.
“Today, the Coast Guard stands firmly in defense of national interests and plays a key role in ensuring the maritime security of the country. I would like to thank the representatives of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for their contributions to strengthening the Coast Guard. My special gratitude goes to the members of the Coast Guard Department, who often fulfill important and responsible tasks at the cost of risking their own health and lives,” said Colonel Davit Tamazashvili.
The event was attended by the Mayor of Poti, representatives of the local government, and heads of various units of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
Together with the Director of the Coast Guard Department and the Mayor of Poti, the Head of the Border Police laid a wreath at the memorial honoring the heroes who died in the line of duty during the August 2008 war.
