Joint exercises between the Georgian and Turkish border units were held on the territory of the Border Sector VALE of the Akhaltsikhe Division of the MIA Border Police Land Border Protection Department.
The tactical groups of the Akhaltsikhe Division of the Georgian Border Police and the 25th Brigade of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Turkey took part in the exercise.
The purpose of the joint exercises was to share experience between the border units of the two countries in the field of land border protection and improve coordinated actions in terms of border security. The exercise helped border guards enhance their ability to respond to border incidents and conduct preventive operations.
The training scenario consisted of 2 main parts: arresting illegal migrants and preventing the smuggling of cattle across the state border.
The concluding part of the training was held on the territory of the sector VALE. The Deputy Director of the MIA Border Police Land Border Protection Department, Colonel Emzar Abramishvili, evaluated the exercise and thanked the participants for the successful training. The Commander of the 25th Brigade of the Turkish Armed Forces, Brigadier General Berat Acar, also addressed the guests and the training participants.
At the end of the event, the participants were awarded certificates of appreciation and symbolic gifts.
The joint exercises were held within the framework of the 2021 Turkish-Georgian bilateral cooperation plan. Similar training is held regularly, once every two years, between Georgia and the Republic of Turkey.
