USS PORTER has made a port call in the territorial waters of Georgia

USS PORTER arrived in Batumi for a port visit. The ship was greeted by the Coast Guard Department alongside other authorities from the Government of A/R of Adjara.
In the frame of the visit, CAPT Emzar Abramishvili held a meeting with Commander Trent. At the same time coordination meeting was held between the American sailors and the coast guard personnel to discuss the scheduled joint drills.
It is the second port visit by the USS PORTER. She will conduct joint maritime drills with the Patrol Boats “Ochamchire” and “Dioskuria”.
The visit reaffirms the United States’ commitment to strengthening ties with Georgia, while working toward mutual goals of promoting security and stability in the Black Sea region. USS PORTER's visit demonstrates the U.S. commitment to the collective defense of the NATO allies and partners.
The USS Porter, forward-deployed at Naval Station Rota, Spain, is conducting naval operations in the U.S. 6th Fleet area of operations in support of U.S. national security interests in Europe. U.S. 6th Fleet, headquartered in Naples, Italy, conducts the full spectrum of joint and naval operations, often in concert with allied and interagency partners, in order to advance U.S. national interests and security and stability in Europe and Africa.
