A video material was spread on the various social media pages, showing a person riding a hydrocycle on the “Ureki” Coast, posing a threat to the citizens in the sea.
The Border Police of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia celebrated Coast Guard Day, at the Coast Guard Department Base, in Poti.
The event was opened by the Head of the Border Police of Georgia, Major General Davit Tamazashvili and the Director of the Coast Guard Department, Captain I Rank, Iuri Pirtskhalaishvili. They congratulated the Coast Guard Department Personnel on their professional day and spoke about the importance of the Coast Guard Service.
The event was attended by Poti Mayor, Beka Vacharadze, representatives of the various units of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and other State Agencies.
In the framework of the ceremony, the Head of the Border Police of Georgia awarded 17 employees of the Coast Guard Department with various awards, including certificates of gratitude from the Minister of Internal Affairs, for exemplary performance of their duties and achievements.
The guests viewed the equipment and machinery of the Department presented in a specially arranged exhibition space at the Coast Guard Base, including four new hydro cycles, which will help the Coast Guard Department conduct both sea patrols and rescue operations more effectively.
As part of the event, Davit Tamazashvili and invited guests laid a wreath at the memorial of the heroes who died in the line of duty, during the August 2008 War and paid tribute to their memory.
