The employees of the Operational – investigative Department of MIA Border Police, with the Prosecutor’s Office of Adjara Autonomous Region, detained 2 persons for preparing illegal transport of a migrant. As a result of operative- investigative actions, carried out by the law enforcement officers, it was established that one of the accused person intended to transport migrants to the Republic of Türkiye, bypassing the “Sarpi” Customs Checkpoint, in exchange for a certain amount of money, using a hiding place in a truck he was driving.

In order to expose the accused person, the Border Police Officers, based on the judge's ruling, carried out investigative actions and made a covert audio-video recording of the criminal intent.

Law Enforcement Officers discovered a foreign citizen hiding in a stopped truck at the “Sarpi” checkpoint, who was trying to illegally cross into the Republic of Türkiye. The truck driver and the foreign citizen, hiding in the hiding place, were arrested as suspects, and the cash transferred within the framework of the control purchase were seized as an evidence.

The investigation is ongoing under the Article 18 – 3441 , Part II, Subparagraph “B” and Article 18 – 344, Part II, Subparagraph “A” of the Criminal Code of Georgia, on the fact of preparing of illegal transport of 2 or more migrants across the State Border and preparing illegal crossing of the Border.
