BORDER POLICE ARRESTED ONE PERSON FOR DRUG CRIME

The employees of the Border Police of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia, detained one person, the citizen of the foreign country (M.G. Born in 1976) who is charged with the illegal purchase and possession of a particularly large amount of narcotics.

It was determined, that the accused person intended to smuggle an illegally acquired, particularly large amount of marijuana, packed in 4 bags, weighing up to 2 kilograms, into the Russian Federation through the Kazbegi Border Crossing Point, by hiding it in the spare tire of a car he was driving. The Law Enforcement Officers seized the narcotic substance as an evidence.

The investigation is ongoing under the article 260, Part III, A Subparagraph, of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which implies the imprisonment from 8 years to 20 years or life imprisonment.
