The employees of the Coast Guard Department of the Border Police of the Ministry of Internal Affairs participated in the International Maritime Exercise – Phoenix Express, organized by the U.S. Africa Command (U.S. AFRICOM) and coordinated by the Office of Defense Cooperation (ODC) of the U.S. Embassy.

The International Maritime Exercise took place in Tunis, Republic of Tunisia, for 4 days. During the training period, employees of the Coast Guard Department of the Georgian Border Police performed the tasks assigned to them at the Training Management Center.

“Phoenix Express” - international Maritime Exercise aimed to enhance interoperability between the maritime and law enforcement forces of the United States, African partners, allies, and international organizations. The exercise was focused on learning of NATO procedures, terminology, and the Maritime Security management model. The exercise was concentrated on Maritime Interdiction Operations, effective information sharing, and coordinated patrols, which contribute to strengthening Maritime Security and deepening cooperation in the Region.

The representatives of 12 countries and international organizations participated in the International Maritime Exercise.
